Cars of the Month 2001
Benny Griffith was chosen to feature his car as "Car of the Month" for April. Benny has been an Asphalt Angels Member for over three years.
Benny is the proud owner of a 1971 Camaro which he acquired over 14 years ago for a mere $300.00.
He purchased the car at 14 years old….talk about getting the car bug early…and couldn't wait the required two more years to drive it. Well, Benny did get to have some fun with his new car, until he was caught and banned from getting his license until he turned 18.
In all these years Benny has held on to the car keeping it tagged and insured all the while.
After parking the car in 1987 Benny decided to dig it out of the weeds and put it back on the road in 1990.
He has been driving it on and off since then but really got serious about working on it last year. Since then he has installed a roll cage, Summit Racing Seats and is getting ready to switch over to NOS….you guessed it…he started racing it up at Capital last summer.
Benny plans on racing more this year and many of us plan on going up to the track with him to cheer him on.
